The World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) has published the updated men’s baseball world ranking following the completion of the recent U23 Baseball World Cup and prior to the start of the Premier12, which is slated to take place from November 9-24, 2024 in Mexico, Taiwan and Japan.
Having won the U23 Baseball World Cup, top-ranked Japan (5756 points) adds to its lead over Mexico (4118) and Chinese Taipei (4118), which advances one position. After a fifth-place finish in the U23 Baseball World Cup, Venezuela (3941) moves up and overtakes USA (3687), which drops to fifth place in the ranking.
The rest of the top 12 is unchanged with the only exception
being Puerto Rico (3122), which gains two positions at the expense of Cuba
(2814) and Panama (2587) to settle in eighth place.
Team Italy (2214) remains in 13th place - just 91 points behind the 12th-ranked Dominican Republic (2302) - and ahead of the Czech Republic (2032) and Australia (1865).
Nicaragua (1828) continues to advance, thanks to a bronze
medal in the U23 Baseball World Cup, and climbs to sixteenth place to pass by 17th-ranked
Germany (1399) with Great Britain (1326) and Israel (1121) following.
After a fourth-place finish in the U23 Baseball World Cup, China
(900) climbs up to the 20th position and overtakes France (888), Canada (856),
Spain (834) and Brazil (791).
