After being sidelined due to the pandemic and unable to return to Leones de Yucatán for his third year in the Liga Mexicana de Béisbol, Alex Liddi has agreed to play in one of the most prestigious Caribbean winter leagues for Atenienses de Manatí in Liga de Béisbol Profesional Roberto Clemente (LBPRC) in Puerto Rico. The LBPRC begins in December, and the league champion earns the right to represent Puerto Rico in Serie del Caribe from January 31 to February 6, 2021 in Mazatlán. It would be a homecoming for Alex Liddi as he is a fan favorite there after playing ball for Venados de Mazatlán in Liga Mexicana del Pacifico.
Under Atenienses de Manatí manager José Molina, a seasoned MLB veteran with 15 years of catching experience for the Chicago Cubs, Toronto Blue Jays, Tampa Bay Rays, Los Angeles Angels and New York Yankees, Alex Liddi will have an opportunity to live up to his legendary status as the first Italian-born and developed player to make it to MLB (Seattle Mariners, 2011).
