Integrating the architectural symbols of the three host cities for the 2021 European Baseball Championship, the Piemonte European Baseball Championship 2021 logo created by artist Andrea Villani was the perfect backdrop for the official press conference announcing the competition inside Sala della Trasparenza at Piazza del Castello in Torino, Italy on Monday, September 14, 2020. Attendees and speakers included Federazione Italiana Baseball Softball (FIBS) President Andrea Marcon, FIBS Federal Councilor and Confederation of European Baseball Executive member Marco Mannucci, Team Italy manager Mike Piazza, Piemonte Councilor for Sport Fabrizio Ricca, Piemonte Italian National Olympic Committee (CONI) President Gianfranco Porqueddu, Avigliana Mayor Andrea Archinà, and Settimo Torinese Mayor Elena Piastra. Despite not being able to participate in the festivities, CONI President Giovanni Malagò, Piemonte Region President Alberto Cirio, Torino Mayor Chiara Appendino, and Confederation of European Baseball President Didier Seminet sent greetings with their representatives.
FIBS President Andrea Marcon thanked everyone in attendance and paid special homage to Piemonte Federal Councilor Marco Mannucci, who effectively launched a speedy and successfull campaign for candidacy of hosting the 2021 European Baseball Championship in Italy. FIBS President Andrea Marcon believes tourist opportunities in Torino will abound in 2021 when the historic city becomes the hub for European baseball and the ATP Tennis Finals. He plans on working closely with the organizers of the international tennis event to create a sports marketing cooperative. Team Italy manager Mike Piazza received a roaring round of applause from the Torino crowd when he said the Azzurri squad's 2021 European Baseball Championship title victory celebration in Piemonte will include its world-class Barolo wine and highly-prized white truffles. The Euros are slated to begin in late September. Forza #Italia!
