Coronavirus Memo issued by MLB to team officials

According to ESPN’s Jeff Passan, Major League Baseball has established an internal task force to combat the threat of coronavirus. This week the league issued a coronavirus memo to high-ranking baseball team officials with suggestions to mitigate the spread of coronavirus at ballparks. It included recommended supplies that clubs should purchase as well as cleaning methods for the clubhouse and training room. In addition, the memo addressed proper hygiene and suggestions like not taking pens or balls directly from fans for autographs and avoiding shaking hands with fans. It is also recommended that all players get the flu vaccine and their necessary vaccinations up to date.

The coronavirus forced the recent cancellation of the Team Italy women's softball squad’s five exhibition games against Spain. The contests were scheduled to be played in Sant Boi (Barcelona) from February 28-March 1, 2020. The games have yet to be rescheduled, but the Team Italy softball squad is prepared to begin play in the Tokyo Olympics on July 22, 2020 barring any further threat of the coronavirus. Forza #Italia!
