Team Italy slugger Robel Garcia nominated for Minor League Baseball Yearly (MiLBY) Breakout Prospect Award

An award reserved for the previously quiet player who stole the show this year, the Minor League Baseball Yearly (MiLBY) Breakout Prospect Award is just a few clicks away for Team Italy slugger and Chicago Cubs infielder Robel Garcia. Fans are encouraged to vote online HERE as many times as they like for their favorite prospects, plays, in-game promos, off-beat moments and more from Minor League Baseball. Voting ends October 31, 2019 so make sure to help Robel Garcia get one step closer to victory with every click of the mouse.

Going head-to-head against Luis Campusano, C (San Diego Padres), Dylan Carlson, OF (St. Louis Cardinals), Deivi Garcia, RHP (New York Yankees), Josiah Gray, RHP (Los Angeles Dodgers), Marco Luciano, SS (San Francisco Giants), Grayson Rodriguez, RHP (Baltimore Orioles), Julio Rodriguez, OF (Seattle Mariners), Tarik Skubal, LHP (Detroit Tigers), and Alek Thomas, OF (Arizona Diamondbacks), Chicago Cubs infielder Robel Garcia deserves the MiLBY Breakout Prospect Award.

A fan favorite in his native Dominican Republic as well as in Italy, 26-year-old switch-hitter Robel Garcia signed a minor league contract with the Chicago Cubs last October after he was seen raking at the plate while playing for Team Italy in a series of Arizona Instructional League games at Mesa's Fitch Park. Prior to making his MLB debut on July 3, 2019, Robel Garcia made 291 plate appearances between Double-A Tennessee and Triple-A Iowa, where he posted a combined .285 batting average with 21 home runs, 14 doubles and one triple.

After playing all four infield positions and being named the Chicago Cubs Minor League Player of the Month in April, Robel Garcia earned the right to put his power to work for the Chicago Cubs in 31 MLB games this season and crushed five home runs, including a 456-foot blast into McCovey Cove against the San Francisco Giants. Forza #Italia!
