The European Softball Federation recently released its final 2018 rankings for Women’s Fastpitch as well as Men’s Fastpitch and Slowpitch. The rankings are based on the results in European continental competitions for national teams. It takes into consideration the last two European championships by giving double weight to the Senior Women’s Fastpitch results in comparison to the U19 Junior Women’s results. In addition, the Senior Women’s Fastpitch results carried four times the weight more than the culmulative totals in the U22 and U16 age group competitions.
Reigning Women's Fastpitch leader Team Italy increased its point total from 4,425 in 2017 to 5,050 in 2018 as result of U19 and U22 European Championship titles. Euro rival, the Netherlands, jumped up two places in the rankings from fourth to second place while the Czech Republic moved down a notch from second to third place. Great Britain, Russia, Germany, Spain, France, Greece and Austria follow respectively in the top ten ranking. Team Italy ranks eighth in Men’s Fastpitch while as a newcomer to Men’s Slowpitch, the Azzurri rank seventh. Forza #Italia! #LetsMakeItHappen
