Bussolengo wins Women's European Premiere Cup with 3-0 shutout over Zraloci Ledenice in Forli, Italy

In the bottom of the sixth inning, Team Italy sparkplug Laura Vigna ignited a three-run rally to catapult Bussolengo to a 3-0 victory against Czech Republic's Zraloci Ledenice to win the Women's European Premiere Cup Championship title at O. Buscherini Stadium in Forli on August 25, 2018. After being walked and stealing second base, Bussolengo's Laura Vigna advanced to third base on a wild pitch. She scored the first run of the game on an RBI single by Nerissa Myers, who also scored on an RBI double from Giulia Longhi. An RBI single by Valeria Bortolomai brought home Bussolengo's third run and provided insurance for starting pitcher Morgan Melloh, who threw an impressive one-hitter and struck out 10 hitters in her complete game shutout.

Bussolengo finished the 2018 Women's European Premiere Cup with a 7-1 record. Their only loss was a 1-0 shutout to third-place finisher Forli on August 23, 2018. Bussolengo returned with a vengeance on the following day by defeating Forli 11-1 to qualify for the championship title game. Forli fell just short of playing Bussolengo for the Women's European Premiere Cup Championship when second-place finisher Zraloci Ledenice came from behind to beat Forli 4-3 on August 25, 2018. Congratulations to Bussolengo coaches Craig Montvidas, Elisa Bruno, Sabrina Del Mastio and Corrado Setti as well as players Veronica Comar, Britt Vonk, Morgan Mellon, Elisa Princic, Laura Vigna, Arianna Pagani, Susanna Soldi, Sydney Brown, Elisa De Trombetti, Giulia Longhi, Valeria Bortolomai, Marta Gasparotto, Nerissa Myers, Fabrizia Marrone, Silvia Refrontolotto, Sierra Hyland, and Krystal Hanson.
