Team Italy travels to Holland for the Super 6 Baseball Softball Tournament from September 18-23, 2018

Both Team Italy baseball and softball teams are preparing for their biggest challenge of the year, the Super 6 Baseball and Softball Tournament held at the ETO Ballpark in Hoofddorp, the Netherlands from September 18-23, 2018. Baseball manager Gilberto “Gibo” Gerali is grooming his Azzurri players for the men’s team, and women’s softball manager Enrico Obletter is mentoring the Azzurre squad in preparation for the international tourney. The men’s baseball team faces tough competitors Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, Czech Republic, and Spain, while the women’s softball team battles against Czech Republic, Great Britain, the Netherlands, Russia, and Greece.

Team Italy baseball kicks off the six-nation tournament with a pair of 11 am morning games against Germany on September 18 and Belgium on September 19. The Italian women’s softball team competes in two 1 pm afternoon games against Czech Republic on September 18 and Great Britain on September 19 before returning to play later that the same day against rival and host the Netherlands at 6 pm. The Azzurre finish the opening round with two 3:30 pm contests against Russia on September 20 and Greece on September 21. The Super 6 softball consolation round begins on September 22 at 10:30 am for the fifth and sixth-place teams followed by another contest at 1 pm for the third and fourth-place squads. The top two finishers square off in the Super 6 softball championship on September 22 at 6 pm. 

In what will prove to be the most important baseball game of the Super 6, Gibo Gerali’s Team Italy goes head to head with the Netherlands under the lights on September 20 at 7:30 pm. Battles against Czech Republic on September 21 at 3:30 pm and Spain on September 22 at 11 am follow.
