In Padova it was the home team who took game one of their two game set with Godo by the slim margin of 2-1. In a game that was dominated by both teams starters (Quevedo for Padova - Oviedo for Godo) it was a squeeze play in the bottom of the 7th that proved to be the difference. Picking up the win for Padova out of the pen was Enrique Gonzalez with 2 innings of scoreless ball, while the save was awarded to Angel Calero. On the other side of the ball it was Ronald Uviedo that suffered the loss. This two game series will now shift to Godo tonight with a start time of 8:30 pm.
In Rimini it was the home team Pirates that got the best of T&A San Marino in game one of their two game set. Rimini’s mound was impressive in this one, especially the likes of Rimini’s starter, Candelario, as he proceeded to punch-out 10 batters in just 5 innings pitched. It was San Marino that got on the board first in in the top of the 4th with 2 runs, however Rimini bounced right back in the bottom half of that very same frame with 3 runs of their own… all of which came with 2 outs on back-to-back-to-back doubles off the bats of Spinelli, Bertagnon and Babini. Rimini tacked on one more in the 5th and then 2 more in the 8th to go on to the 6 to 2 victory. On a side note, after Candelario allowed two singles in the 4th, T&A’s offense didn't pick up another hit throughout the course of the game, as the duo of Escalona and Moreno were absolutely dominant on the bump. This series will continue tonight at 8:30 pm in San Marino.
UnipolSai Bologna had no problem taking care of Angel Service Nettuo2 on Friday evening, as they walked away with the easy 8-1win. Picking up the win for Bologna on the bump was Fleming with an easy 6 innings pitched where he allowed just a single run off of 4 hits. Suffering the for Nettuno2 was Andreozzi. This two game set will conclude tonight in Bologna with the first pitch expected to be thrown at 8:30 pm.
Down in Rome 11 frames were needed to decide the victor in the series opener between Nettuno and Parma. In the end when the dust settled it was the visiting Parma club that was able to walk away with the slim 5-4 win thanks to an extra inning single threw the right side of the diamond off the bat of Poma that plated Santolupo. Picking up the win for Parma out of the pen with 6 innings of work was Yoimer Camacho. This two game series will conclude tonight in Rome, with all the action set to get underway at 8:30 pm.
