Spain wins the Italian Baseball Week

Spain took the top prize at the Italian Baseball Week thanks to a 5 to 2 victory over Italy on Tuesday evening in Verona. Mauro Mazzotti’s Spain was able to hold the Italian offense to just three hits in the game, with the win going to Leslie Nacar who pitched 2 perfect innings out of the pen. The save was picked up by Remigio Leal who put up a zero in both the 8th and 9th. Spain scored in the 2nd when Martinez came around to score. They then ended up falling behind when Italy scored in the bottom of the 2nd on a pass ball, and again in the 3rd on an RBI double to left off the bat of Sambucci. Span tied the game in the 4th off of Morreale when Martinez scored on a groundout to second. In the top of the 6th Spain picked up another run off of Richetti to take the 3-2 lead, and then in the top of the 7th they were able to cross another two runs off of Teran on a 2 RBI double off the bat of Figueroa to put the score at its final of 5-2
