Series A Italian Baseball heads towards 3 divisions of 8 teams each

On the 14th of December in Emilia Romagna (Italy) FIBS President, Fraccari, and company had a sit down to discuss the 2014 formula that will be used in the Baseball Series A 2014 league. On the table at the moment is a league that will consist of 24 teams that will be split into 3 divisions of 8 teams each, with the top 4 clubs making it to the postseason, while those who do not qualify for the playoffs will move onto play the Series A Italian Cup tournament. At the moment the action is scheduled to get going in March and run through July with a break scheduled for August right before the playoffs get underway in September. Each club would be allowed one foreign player on their roster, while 8 of the ballplayers on the field at one time would be required to be ASI (Italian born or double passport holders with at least 6 years in Italian baseball).
