The Academy in Tirrenia, Italy is going to be the base for the Italian National Softball Team in their preparations leading up to the 2014 Softball World Cup in Holland next summer. With 32 athletes currently in consideration, Marina Centrone and her staff have their work cut out for them as they look to put together a team capable of competing on world stage. A rotation of athletes is expected to pass through Tirrenia over the next couple of months in hopes of getting a feel for what they have to work with, and an idea on how exactly they want to build their team for the prestigious international tournament. “Thus far our work has gone quite well. We’ll look to continue down this road, and we hope to give everyone a shot to be able to show us what they’ve got,” said Centrone.
