Vaglio and Reyes take care of Reggio Emilia in game one

Unipol Bologna had absolutely no problem in game one of their two game series with Reggio Emilia on Thursday evening in Bologna. The home team was able to build a quick 5 run lead over the first two frames, and never looked back from there on.

Two runs crossed the plate in the bottom of the 1st off of 4 consecutive walks and a sac fly by Bischeri. In inning number two it was Vaglio’s and Reyes’s turn to drive in a combined 3 runs with 2 outs, first on a two run single by Vaglio who then scored on a triple off the center field wall by Reyes which made it a 5-0 ball game.

Reggio had their chances to make this one interesting as they had runners on in the 3rd, 4th, 5th (stranding 2 in every inning) but they were only able to come up with 2 in the 5th which put the score at 6-2. After 5 strong innings by the leagues leading pitcher (Rivero), Nanni went to his pen where he first called on Pugliese for an inning then Luque for 3. Luque picked up save for Unipol Bologna.

The two clubs will face off once again this evening in Bologna, with the game time set for 20.30.
