The election took place during the SportAccord convention in Saint Petersburg, Russia. Being elected as the first president of the ARISF was the Italian, Raffaele Chiulli.
“It’s a great honor to be entrusted with this key position by my colleagues from the various member federations,” Fraccari said. "We have a duty to protect and evolve our sports for all of our athletes and membership, and to contribute to the actions of the Olympic Movement. I take this responsibility very seriously; and in this regard, I am looking forward to serving under President Chiulli.”
ARISF currently has more than 30 International Sports Federations within its organization, which have all obtained recognition by the International Olympic Committee as the supreme authority governing their respective sport at the international level. The idea behind the creation of this new association is to help to protect and evolve sports for athletes around the world as well as to contribute to the actions of the Olympic Movement. The collective knowledge, experience and creativity of the 33 international sport federations currently involved in the ARISF show a rich diversity that will very much complement each other in moving forward with the body’s over all goal.
