The second half of the 2013 Italian Softball league begins this weekend with still so much to be determined up and down the league. The action begins this afternoon in Bologna when the Blue Girls welcome in Fiorini Forli. Both teams are heading into the weekend after going two and two with their interleague schedules their last time out. This weekend Bologna will count on their Venezuelan superstar, Johana Gomez. The fireballer is 8 and 2 this season on the mound while also contributing with a very heavy bat. Bologna will most likely have to take both games this weekend in order to keep pace with a Caserta club that faces off against a winless Urbe Roma.
In division A the Nuoro Banco di Sardegna will host Legnano in a very interesting matchup. Both teams are coming off of a tough weekend, however both teams are still alive when it comes to a possible playoff run. If either one of these clubs are able to walk away with a two game sweep they will most likely eliminate the other from the postseason picture. Specchiasol Bussolengo and Rhibo la Loggia should also be an interesting matchup, especially when both foreigners take the mound. If Rhibo comes out victorious twice they’ll more then likely finish the season in second place in the division. The games between Bollate and Collecchio have been pushed back a day to Sunday. Bollte, the stronger team on paper, will look to keep their domination of the league intact as they march towards the playoffs.
