Des Caserta and Amga Legnano will battle in the women fastpitch softball final series, that takes off in Caserta on Saturday October 1 and will have the potential rubber match of the 5 game series in Legnano on Sunday October 9.
Caserta, the defending champions, made it to the final after a surprising sweep of the favorites Fiorini Forlì. In the regular season Caserta had struggled and Forlì had dominated. Caserta had a bad campaign in the European Cup, while Forlì won the Cup Winner's Cup. But in the 3 game series, Caserta won it all. The rubber match was an emotional won, with Caserta taking the lead and winning in 10 innings.
It took 4 games and 3 weeks to Legnano to make the final. Heavy rain postponed the second week end of action of the series and when play resumed, Bollate (trailing 2-0) could force a 4th game winning (1-0 in 10 innings) thanks to a great performance (allowed 1 hit and struck out 9) by pitcher Kate Robinson.
Legnano actually had no problem in winning (5-1) game 4 and advancing to the championship series.
