Italy finishes 8th in the 12 and Under baseball World Championship

The 12 and Under baseball national team finished 8th in the World Championship after losing (7-6) the 7th place game against Korea.

It was a close game in Taipei, that required a tie breaking 7th inning. Italy tried to put some pressure on Korea with a double steal. But with runners at second and third and no one out, the young azzurri could not score.
In the bottom half of the inning, with a runner on third, Korea batted in the winning run on a slow roller to second.

"We performed alright" commented Team Italy's manager Stefano Burato "We played good defense and showed how good we can be at bat".

Chinese Taipei claimed the first 12 and Under World Title beating (3-2) Cuba in the championship game.
Venezuela won the bronze medal while Mexico was 4th, Japan 5th and Brazil 6th.
