Italian National Softball Team tuning up at 150 years of Unity of Italy Tourney

The Italian National Softball team is taking advantage of along weekend by participating in Italy's 150 Years of Unity softball tournament. The Azzure softballers opened up actionyesterday with an easy 7-0 shutout win over Bollate of the Italian SoftballLeague.

In the national squad's second contest of the day, theItalian softballers fell to the Netherlands 7-2.  Earlier in the day, the Netherlands toppedItalian Softball League's La Loggia 6-2 to begin the tournament with a win. 

Italy and the Netherlands are scheduled to face each otheragain tomorrow night. 

However, Italy's next two match-ups will be against thesoftball rich Czech Republic, which has brought two teams and a selection ofall-stars from the Prague region.

The Italian Softballers will be competing in the 2011 European championships that begin on July 31 and hosted by Italy; the Azzure have their eyes on the championship trophy.
