Caserta sweeps way to top of Italian Softball League alongside Legnano

Week 9 signaled the end first half of the Italian Softball League, and two teams sit side-by-side atop the standing: 2010 ISL Champs Caserta and Legnano both have a record of 13-5. Although technically, third-place Forli has less games registered in the loss column with a record of 10-4.

There was light action during Week 9, as games were rained out in Forli and Titano. Forli was scheduled to take on Macerata, while the Titano Hornets had to head back to the hive not having competed with feisty Fermana. The teams will try to make the games up later in the season.

In the games that were able to be played, Caserta took two from Bollate in Bollate. The 2010 champions handed Bollate a 6-3 loss in game 1 and followed that up with a 3-1 win. Last week Caserta had split with Legano.

Legnano and La Loggia split a pair of games in La Loggia. First-place Legnano fell in game one 8-5 before avenging the loss with a 9-5 win.

In the only other series in Week 9, Caronno was able to bring home their third win on the year, beating Nuoro 8-1 at home. Nuoro took a 7-2 win back to Sardinia to even the series.
