ROME--The big news of Week 3 of the FIBS Serie A League was the sweep carried out by Rovigo over the previously unbeaten Redipuglia Rangers. Rovigo rocked Redipuglia 10-2 in the opener and survived a 9th inning rally to clip the Rangers 7-6 in the rematch.

Four teams now have a claim of first place in the North Conference, as Juve 98, Piacenza Rovigo and Redipuglia all have records of 4-2 after three weeks of play.

Piacenza shot up the ladder with a series win over Bollate, 7-2 and 13-1. Bollate still remains just one game out of first place.

Alongside Piancenza in the middle of the North Conference are Collecchio and Codogno.

Collecchio split a double-dip with the Bologna A's, giving the A's their first win in Serie A.

Codogno took down Padova in a pair of hotly contested one-run contests. The tail-end of the double-header went into the bottom of the 11th inning before Codogno pushed a runner across the plate for the 1-0 extra-inning win.

Three teams in the South Conference sat idly. The 2010 Serie A champs, Reggio Emilia, got their day rained out with Messina in Sicily, while Anzio took in an intra-squad scrimmage during its bye week.

First-place Croccetta distanced themselves from idle Anzio and also kept Poviglio winless on the season, taking two games at home.

Arezzo split a pair with hosts Sala Baganza.

Modena and Rome continued to play .500 baseball, splitting a pair of games in the luxury motor city.
