Italy has been dominating the side so far in the baseball European Championship played in Germany (Stuettgart, Heidenheim and Neuenburg).
In the first game Italy crushed (9-1) Spain in a debut game in which rain was actually the worst opponent the azzurri had. Team Italy went ahead with a 2 run homer by Mario Chiarini in the first inning off spanish starter Olivera and never looked back. Chiarini went deep again and Cooper cruised through Spanish line up without a problem.
The second game saw Italy wasted a very good opportunity (bases loaded, one out) with Ramos hitting into a double play and fell behind (0-1) against Greece.
In the third inning first baseman Peppe Mazzanti took the offering of greek starter Karkatselos well beyond the left field wall. The bases were loaded and that hit was the game.
Italy added more power (Chapelli for 2 runs, Mazzanti again for a solo shot and Santora with the first grand slam of his career) and Tiago Da Silva got an easy win.
Three more homers (the first by shortstop Granato, who added one later in the game, in the first inning; the other home run hitter was Chapelli) made it easy for Italy against Great Britain in the third game of the Euros. The azzurri claimed a 12-2 win in 7 innings.
Right hander Cody Cillo got the win.
